Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge Education Center

Description and Location of Work:

Located in Brigham City, Utah, this project consisted of a new 30,000 square foot building on 10 acres of critical wetland area, built to a LEED standard.  Building includes two functional laboratories with equipment, laboratory casework, fume hood, administrative offices, an education center, museum, 140 seat auditorium, outdoor class area, and maintenance facility bays.  The unique design, which includes a number of rounded walls and sound reflecting panels that allow the visitors to better hear the bird calls from the adjacent marsh, mirrors the fluid lines of a bird in flight.  HHI designed, constructed, and installed all of the displays, including a number of three dimensional exhibits displaying the habitats of wetland birds.  HHI also constructed the exterior boardwalk and bridges with reclaimed wood.  The project was built in a marsh area which required deep footings and foundations to be cast while a pump dewatered the site.

I haven't seen a nicer facility in the Fish and Wildlife System

Thanks to you and your company's commitment and teaming efforts, this project was completed over 40 calendar days ahead of schedule. This early completion allowed the Fish and Wildlife Service to take acceptance of the Education Center Complex and proceed with preparing the complex for use as the new headquarters facility for the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. I appreciated your personal efforts in the management of the conract and making this project a notable success.
