Buildings 935 & 960 Repair
Hill Air Force Base, Utah
This Design-Build project included two facilities, Building 935 and 960 in the controlled access Missile and Munitions Storage (MAMS) 1 area on Hill Air Force Base. The project entailed a new standing seam steel siding system to cover existing asbestos transite wall panels on each building.
These two buildings are on the Historical Register. Work was performed under a “Free Zone” work plan prepared by HHI and approved by Hill AFB Security Forces. Care was required in the design and construction of these two buildings to preserve the original exterior appearance while bringing them into conformance with current security standards. The project required extensive renovations including removal and replacement of the primary working concrete floor slab, total revisions to the restrooms and administrative areas, the addition of an extremely high pressure 3000 psi air compressors, replacement of HVAC systems, and the replacement/enlargement of lightning protection systems. As well as installation of 400 cycle power systems, new security alarms and secure doors, certification of existing overhead crane and new and expanded asphalt and concrete paving areas around the facilities.
