Egan Fish Hatchery Raceway Cover

Division of Wildlife Resources, Bicknell, Utah

This Design-Build project constructed a new fish hatchery raceway cover and related support facilities at the existing hatchery property located in Bicknell, Utah. The existing site was approximately 7 acres. The building consisted of a structural steel and bar joist building with colored roof and wall panels, hollow metal doors and hardware strategically located along both side-walls and end-walls to meet maintenance access requirements and building codes. HHI designed and fabricated the structural steel for the project, as well as erected the steel. Large overhead doors are located for access to raceways at the ends of the 400’ long building which allows feeding of the fish and maintenance and transportation equipment.

The raceway cover consists of colored metal walls and roof panels, an open section with bird screen for ventilation and protection to keep out threats to the fish from whirling disease and ridge vents for air circulation. Electrical work consists of lighting conducive to a wet areas and outlets throughout the facility. The roof is on a 2:12 slope with a two-foot overhang.

HHI provided the design for concrete and civil work and performed the necessary demolition required for the new raceway cover foundations and surrounding site. The project was designed and completed within 6 months.
